Arbor Snowboard

Arbor Snowboard has been having a celebration of its 10th year in business, and debut its 10th snowboard line since its 1995 founding.

When Arbor hit the scene, it joined a list of 300+ snowboard brands fighting for the attention of an increasingly skeptical buyer. To survive a brand had to stand out as different. Arbor’s unique vision delivered, allowing the company to weather years of industry consolidation. Ten years down the road, Arbor has emerged as a key player in a cleaner market.

Arbor’s co-founders Chris Jensen and Bob Carlson developed the vision that allowed the company to succeed. Both are long-time riders and wood workers who believe that there is a better way to build boards using natural technologies. “We wanted to improve board durability, performance, and style with an array of environmentally friendly natural materials,” says Bob Carlson. “We knew that we could develop new construction methods and alternative designs around these materials. Our goal is to give riders a clear choice and dealers something that adds power and variety to their line-ups.”

Arbor launched the brand on the strength of its exclusive wood topsheet technology, which improved board performance and durability, and created a radically different look for the industry to chew on. Since then the company has introduced targeted wood inlays, Bamboo reinforced cores, Cork damping stringers, and Diamondwood reinforced rails. For 2006, Arbor will add Bamboo topsheets to its line-up of environmentally friendly, natural board technologies, as well as a much deeper line of apparel.
